A source tells EW that Chris will not be back because of scheduling with New Moon. No director for the third film has been announced.

Chris Weitz will not direct the third film in the Twilight series, Eclipse, a source close to the production tells EW.com exclusively. Because New Moon, which Weitz is helming, and Eclipse are due to be released so close together (on Nov. 20, 2009, and June 30, 2010, respectively), Weitz will be in post-production on New Moon at the same time that Eclipse will be shooting. That said, the source confirms a report that the movies will not be shot simultaneously or back-to-back; there will be a brief gap between the production of both films.

Summit Entertainment has officially greenlit The Twilight Saga: Eclipse with a scheduled release date of June 30, 2010.

Summit’s expected to begin production shortly on The Twilight Saga’s New Moon, the second film. Chris Weitz replaced Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke on New Moon with the key actors reprising their roles — Robert Pattinson as Edward, Kristen Stewart as Bella and Taylor Lautner as Jacob.

Summit hasn’t yet selected a director for “Eclipse.”

Twilight has earned $189 million domestically and another $174 million overseas.

We still have not received any confirmation about Ashley Greene or any of the other Cullen’s official return. It’s assumed and hoped they will, but with the Taylor Lautner things - you never know. Here’s to hoping and hopefully we’ll get the news soon!

MTV has debuted this title artwork for the newly-named The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which of course is the sequel to Summit Entertainment’s Twilight. Directed by Chris Weitz, the November 20 release again stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

In the film based on author Stephenie Meyer’s book, Bella Swan (Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen (Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black. Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested.

Ashley Green will celebrate her 22nd Birthday today, February 21st. She was born in 1987 in Jacksonville, Florida.
