I’ve seen it twice now … the first time I was not very impressed - it felt like I was missing a lot by having not read the book. So I read the book (which I liked decent enough) and watched the movie a second time. I REALLY liked the movie the second time around. I understood all the awkward pauses and glances and weird spacing and it made me better appreciate the characters (including “Alice”).
After reading the book, the remaining characters “fleshed out” for me and I really liked the movie. At first the characters of Edward, Bella, Carlisle and Jasper seemed almost comical at times…until I read the book. Then it seemed like each of their actions were justified on most points. I feel it appropriate to mention at this point that prior to reading the book, the only movie performances that seemed “natural” (the first time I watched it) were within the characters of Alice, Emmet, Rosalie and Esme.
This is why I am on this site. Ashley Greene did an excellent job in her portrayal of the “spritely and lighthearted” Alice - otherwise I would not have gotten on this site to give her “kudos”. Ashley Greene really made movie-watchers believe in “Alice” enough to make her “vegetarian” vampire family seem more believable and real. Her portrayal of the character helped to create a feeling of trust for the vamipire family which inevitably helped to move the storyline along.
Great Job Ashley!
